Alexandre has broad experience across the energy, oil, natural gas, and mining industries, concentrating his practice on transactional, contractual, and regulatory matters involving clients in the natural resources, energy, and infrastructure sectors.

In addition to his regulatory and contractual practice, he has recognized experience in M&A transactions, having advised clients on several of the largest oil and natural gas deals in Brazil. Alexandre is also a renowned specialist in matters relating to the energy transition and has deep knowledge of the emerging opportunities in Brazil and Latin America in the areas of energy, natural gas, biogas, and critical minerals.

Experience

Alexandre has extensive experience in M&A transactions involving energy companies and oil and natural gas assets (farm-in and farm-out), oil and natural gas concession agreements for onshore and offshore areas, production sharing agreements, JOAs, farm-in and farm-out transactions, oil trading agreements, as well as in natural gas regulatory matters such as transportation agreements, purchase and sale agreements, and discussions regarding access to the infrastructure required for gas flow and processing, in addition to actively participating in the structuring of the natural gas market in Brazil.

Throughout his career, and among other relevant experiences, Alexandre has stood out for his work on M&A transactions involving companies and assets valued at over USD 15 billion, complex regulatory discussions, including the one relating to the regulatory framework for the world's largest ethanol pipeline, and on acquisitions and the structuring of various mining projects in Brazil and abroad (involving critical minerals, gold, iron ore, manganese, potash, and diamonds), in addition to advising on the structuring of pioneering carbon capture and storage projects.

Alexandre is actively committed to legal education and corporate training. He is the author of several publications addressing oil and natural gas, the energy transition, and carbon capture, and lectures in Brazil and abroad for public and private institutions on energy and energy transition matters.

Alexandre is also an active participant in groups that provide pro bono legal assistance to minorities and people in vulnerable situations, and an advocate for initiatives that seek to broaden diversity in the legal services market and in the energy sector in Brazil.
