His practice encompasses a wide range of environmental law matters, standing out in the development of legal solutions that impact the day-to-day operations of clients across various economic sectors, notably agribusiness, decarbonization, the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity, infrastructure, oil and gas production and exploration, basic sanitation, real estate, as well as the generation and disposal of solid waste, the circular economy, and sustainability. With a proactive and strategic approach, Vilmar provides effective solutions to complex challenges with potential financial and reputational impact, and is recognized for his dedication to understanding clients' businesses and the legal framework applicable to each sector.

Experience

Vilmar provides integrated legal services, with a focus on helping clients transition from a culture of compliance with the environmental legislation applicable to each activity to a culture of sustainable performance. His experience includes representation in multiparty negotiation and/or mediation, civil and criminal inquiries, public civil actions, parliamentary inquiry commissions (CPIs), and the negotiation of Conduct Adjustment Agreements (TACs), among others.

Vilmar provides legal support in preparing the responsibility matrix applied to the various sectors in which he works, conducts assessments of the compliance of his clients' activities with applicable regulations, and ensures the implementation of effective sustainability policies. In addition, Vilmar carries out due diligence in transactions, supply chains, and human rights, with an approach centered on ESG aspects.

Vilmar is also the current vice president of the CBMA – Brazilian Center for Mediation and Arbitration and is the coordinator of the MBA in Environmental Law at Universidade Candido Mendes.
